This is the name of our mixed gender composite teams at the Rusty Dragons. Composite teams are teams formed temporarily for a single event, and may or may not have practices included. As a result, anyone signing up for this team must have experience paddling with an existing team (their "home" team). These teams are for paddlers who want some extra races in their season on top of those already part of their existing regular home team. They are open to anyone, not just Rusties (in fact, we encourage others to join us)! You cannot join Motley Crew for an event if your home team is racing there.
2026 February Update: Our PUERTO RICO team did well, earning silver medals and having lots of fun for the weekend and week as tourists in San Juan and Fajardo. As of Feb 11th, registration is now open for the WILDWOOD team. This is an early season race with unique distances (100m, 300m, 1000m). Like sprints? Sign up!
- See THREE different race opportunities below that are open to anyone from any team/club.
- Registration is separate for each event. You can register for any number of events.

We had a great week in San Juan. The Mixed team won silver and the women's team did better but came 4th in their higher division. Team members came from Toronto ON, Philadelphia PA, Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Chattanooga TN, Charlotte NC, Cleveland OH, and NJ and VT. We have already secured a mixed/women/open team for 2027. Besides racing, we had beach time in 26-30C, toured Old San Juan, paddled kayaks in dark in a bioluminescent bay, climbed a mountain in the El Yunque Rainforest, and had lots of great food. We love Puerto Rico! Join us next year.

Six races: 2x200m, Back-It-Down, Figure Eight, Surprise Race, and a 2000m race
This great end-of-season event was created by Ramsay Drummond-Young and Jackie Taggart at Lively Dragon. We first raced there over 20 years ago. Finish your season with a flurry of fun races!
As of Sept 12, the team reached capacity of 22, and registration is now closed. Note that on September 5th, Alkame MOVED the event from the Christie Lake Conservation Area (CLCA) location to Bayfront Park in Hamilton. The cause was due to the Conservation Authority putting too many restrictions on the event, affecting its viability and restricting the number of teams (people) permitted at the site.
Payment is preferred by Interac e-mail transfer to "This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.". Contact Tim to inquire about other payment options. Alternatively, mainly for American paddlers, we can submit a PayPal invoice to you via email and you can pay securely via credit card.
