The event will be held on Feb. 10-11, with practice on Friday and races on Saturday.  The details are published below.  This event is run by the same ice dragon boat organizers as the Ottawa Ice Regatta that takes place the week before this event.  Our plan is to organize a single mixed-gender team to attend this event.  If we don't have enough for a team, then we will join another team.  Everyone who wants to go  can go.

We are looking forward to this new adventure in Alberta, and hope to form a team of paddlers from all over North America, including locals from Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

We also decided to book hotels in Red Deer just 17 km to the east of Lake Sylvan (15 minute drive).  That way we have two days during day in Lake Sylvan and two partial days in Red Deer.  In particular, some in the group are staying at  the Quality Inn & Conference Centre, Red Deer where rooms with two queen beds can be booked for about $130/night after taxes, or $195/person for three nights double occupancy.

Flights are best to Edmonton to the north (150 km).  We'll be renting a car or van, depending on the number of people wanting to get around together.
